Overview
Be propelled to new soaring heights through the air with this winch cable gliding launch over North Wales. Being launched into the air is the most exhilarating way to take off from a glide, and you'll soon be taking in the beautiful Llandegla Hills as you soar over the Welsh countryside. But before you’re strapped in and allowed to take the controls for yourself, you will have a warm welcome from the North Wales Gliding Club as they take you through a safety briefing and explain how to control a glider. Don’t worry as you will be in safe hands here, as the club is known for their friendly welcome and love of the Welsh landscape. Unlike other gliding experiences, this one allows you to be the pilot as you sit in the front seat and receive commands from the pilot. After this experience, you will become all too familiar with knowing what ‘lift' 'sink' 'pitch' 'roll' 'vario' mean as you get fully immersed in the world of gliding. After your 20-30-minute flight, why not treat yourself to a meal at a local pub? There are several great places nearby ready to quench your thirst after having such an exhilarating experience. Not only is this gliding experience ideal for nature lovers and thrill seekers, but anyone passionate about getting into gliding as you will also get a two-month membership with this Welsh club included. Suitability

  • The maximum weight for taking a glider flight is 16.5 stone
  • Minimum height 5'
  • Maximum height is 6'2"
  • Any under 18's must be accompanied on site by a parent who will need to sign a disclaimer

Restrictions

Minimum Age: 10 years

Anything Else

  • All glider flight instructors are British Gliding Association qualified

Availability

  • Glider flights operate on most weekends and bank holidays, weather permitting, all year round from 11:30 to dusk

Spectators

  •  Spectators are very welcome to watch and can stay all day to watch the flying activity
  • Facilities at the launch site are limited, however there are pubs offering food and drink nearby

This experience was postponed many times due to Covid and weather conditions but the intotheblue team were very understanding and accommodating in extending my voucher. It was worth the wait Thrilling going up in the glider very quickly and amazing views. Felt very safe with my experienced pilot and even briefly took over the controls. If you like anything to do with flying, youll love this.

Very scary experience but felt like I was in safe hands. The conditions werent that good for gliding so I got to go up three times for shorter flights. Had the conditions been better, we would have ascended more nd travelled a little further afield than we did but obviously that is out of the organisers control.

Great experience at North Wales Gliding. Very friendly enthusiastic bunch of people who were keen to ensure that I had a good time. The weather wasnt the best and there were no thermals, and therefore we didnt stay up that long. However, because of this, I was taken up for a second flight. Two very exciting launches to 1300 feet. Highly recommended.

A fantastic experience with the guys from the gliding club. I was given a warm welcome, a thorough briefing on what to expect followed by two wonderful gliding flights. I highly recommend this experience.
