It’s a deal, it’s a steal, it’s the sale of the century - as those with a fascination in the dark underworld of gangland London, the notorious Kray twins and their reign of terror during the 1950s and 1960s, will get to trace their footsteps on this unusual themed walking tour of the East End. And your host for this tour isn’t any old host; it’s only Vas Blackwood, who of course played another notable gang leader - Rory Breaker - in Guy Ritchie’s 1998 blockbuster Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels! The tour has been specially curated by Vas as well, and will take you into the heart of gangster London, and is full of captivating facts and fiction. In fact, so barbaric are the tales of London’s most violent criminals and that of outlandish fiction, that at times you’ll wonder what’s reality and what isn’t. The Kray twins, Ronnie and Reggie, are the perfect example of this, as their reputation really did precede them. Revered almost as much as they were feared, you’ll visit the Blind Beggar pub in Whitechapel, where they memorably gunned down rival gang member George Cornell. Then there’s the Repton Boys Club in Bethnal Green, one of the oldest boxing clubs in the UK, where the Krays’ henchman, Freddie “Brown Bread” Foreman, allegedly shot Ginger Marks - and also where the memorable card game scene in the boxing ring from Lock, Stock was filmed. Your tour concludes at the Royal Oak, another Lock, Stock… filming location, which was used as Samoan Jos, the South Seas themed pub, which, even with its many advances into the present day, still retains the spit and sawdust feel of an authentic East London pub!
