'The Donkeys' at Holly Grange in Balsall Common, near Solihull, is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to caring for a herd of miniature donkeys who truly live their best lives in the paddock, meeting new friends and having fun together. During the winter months, the donkeys become extra fluffy, making them even cuter as their fur coats grow longer. They still love to step outside on crisp, lovely days to greet visitors like you! Each donkey has its own unique character and personality, and they are a delight to watch as they interact within the herd; they can be quite cheeky too! To start off your winter experience with the donkeys, you'll be invited to the timber hay barn for a little feast that includes sausage rolls, chocolate brownies, and even mince pies, all paired with a warm cup of hot chocolate. Throughout your visit, you'll have the chance to spend quality time with the donkeys—helping with grooming, feeding them their favourite treats (a few Ginger Nuts!), and capturing adorable selfies together. This centre is not usually open to the public, so these special invitations to join the donkeys on a winter's day are a real treat for both you and the resident donkeys!
