If you've ever watched the many rowers practicing along this river and wondered what it's like to have a go, you're in the place as we're offering a unique Cambridge Rowing Taster Session! Here, you will receive an introduction to the club and its boats, take a session on the clubs rowing machines mastering the technique, and learn how to keep the boat stable before take off! Once you are prepped and ready to go, you'll be able to enjoy a full hour of rowing along the River Cam - starting opposite the Midsummer Common. As the link between Cambridge and rowing is so strong, you'll soon be becoming familiar with this iconic sport and get to appreciate the city from the river. Enjoy a rowing experience at the City of Cambridge Rowing Club
Introduction to the club and boats
Half an hour session on the clubs rowing machines (ergs), working on timing and technique
Practice the techniques in an 'eight boat' by the bank
Learn how to sit the boat (keep it stable) and how to follow the cox's calls
Collect your blades from the boathouse and head out to the river
Enjoy a full hour of rowing on the River Cam
Allow approx 3-3.5 hours for this experience

Participants must be able to swim at least 20 metres in clothing (precaution only - not expecting anyone to fall into the river!)
