The Metropole Hotel, your venue for this experience, is located on Kings Road overlooking Brighton's legendary seafront. Upon arrival, you'll be warmly welcomed with a complimentary glass of something bubbly, and meet with the master perfumer and consultant who will be running your session as part of a group. With everyone arrived and settled, you'll head off to your session, which starts with a fun and engaging history lesson on perfume, covering its origins, its uses over time, its cultural significance and also what has helped it become what it is today - and we're sure you'll come away knowing something from that which you didn't before. Then comes the exciting part, as you start working with the extensive library of over 20 different scents to blend and create your own perfume. As you go along, you'll learn more about the importance of top, middle and base notes, and how these are best formulated to produce your own custom fragrance that would rival even the most high end of perfume houses! You'll get to take home a 20ml spray bottle sampler of your creation in a beautifully packaged gift box. And then, before setting off, you'll also get to enjoy a scrummy afternoon tea bountiful with sweet and savoury goodies and freshly brewed tea and coffee - the fitting reward for all that hard perfume making work!
The perfume making Brighton experience is suitable for almost anyone. Under 16s are welcome to participate, but each person under 16 must be accompanied by a voucher-holding adult.
Maximum group size per booking is 12, however, the venue will hold more.
The entire experience will last approximately three hours.
There is no dress code for this experience, however you may wish to dress smartly for a luxury afternoon tea. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing. Since you’ll be working with fragrance materials, it's wise to avoid wearing strong perfumes on the day of the experience.
The weather should not affect your perfume making course and afternoon tea, however if a cancellation occurs your class will be rescheduled for another date.
