Moonfleet is a ship that was first constructed in Holland during the 1930s as a cargo vessel. Later, it was converted into a sail training boat with the goal of offering affordable tall ship sailing experiences to all.
There's something quite magical and even romantic about these majestic tall ships, and it's all about embarking on exciting sea adventures and sailing expeditions on the helm of such a stunning vessel, with you becoming a part of the Moonfleet crew!
As you cross Weymouth Bay, you'll be treated to stunning views of Dorset's famous Jurassic Coastline. From the boat, you'll get a unique perspective of the beaches, coves, and cliffs in the area. If you choose the four-hour sail, you'll even get to anchor near Durdle Door, the iconic limestone arch, which is a highlight for any tall ship sailor.
Tall ship expeditions are incomplete without a biscuit barrel and a kettle for making tea. There is ample time for this on each voyage, and the atmosphere is very friendly. You may hear some interesting stories from Ken, a seaman who served in the Navy, spend time with Captain Scrummage, the ship's beautiful Black Labrador, or help First Mate Brian with dropping the anchor in a secluded bay. 5 Hour Lulworth Cove Sail
- Sail from Portland Marina, passed the sea forts and lighthouse across Weymouth Bay to Durdle Door
- Drop anchor for pictures and a picnic and learn a little about the history of the Jurassic Coastline
- Sail on to Stair Hole and Man O'War Bay before heading back across Weymouth Bay
