Once you've received a warm welcome and safety briefing from your instructor, getting you nice and comfortable in the Ikarus C42 light sports aircraft, you'll be darting off to the Cuckmere River and follow it along until you get to Beachy Head and follow the coast to Brighton! Although this is a picturesque route full of incredible views of Brighton Pier, Lewes, and the South Downs, it's also a chance for you to get some flying skills alongside your instructor. Once you've had some time in the air to get acclimatized, your instructor will hand over the controls to you and before you know it, you'll be steering this modern, sporty plane through the skies! If you're serious about flying, you'll be pleased to know your time in the skies over Sussex will count towards your PPL or other qualification if you want to, but alternatively, this flight can purely be for leisure! Whether you've clocked up the hours or are completely new to flying, this lesson from Deanland gives you a unique opportunity to explore the Sussex coastline and get some flying time under your belt.   • Fly from ex RAF base Deanland Airfield in Lewes
  • School uses Ikarus C42 light sports aircraft
  • Trial flights count towards pilot qualification

  • Once airborne you will be given the option to take the controls and fly the light sport aircraft yourself
  • Time flown can be counted towards a qualification

45 Minute Flight

  • Take in the Cuckmere River, see Beachy Head and follow the Sussex Coastline to Brighton
  • See the Brighton Pier and i360 up close before heading inland
  • On the return flight you will see the AMEX Stadium, Lewes and the South Downs
  • Allow approximately one and a half hours for this experience

  • Deanland Airfield, Lewes
  • Flights can be taken from Shoreham Airfield on selected dates upon request, for an additional charge of £25 payable when booking your date

  • Spectators are welcome to come and watch the flight
  • There is an outside seating area
  • Well behaved dogs on leads are permitted on the airfield

Minimum Age: 14 years

Maximum Weight: 110.00 kg

  • Flights take place on weekday and weekends, subject to availability
  • Please note all flights are weather dependent

  • Please note that fixed wing, closed cockpit aircraft are used for flights, due to the lightweight nature of these modern sport aircraft they're actually classed as microlights
  • Flex-wing microlight flights are not currently available at this location
