The event will take place at the Byrkley Park Garden Centre, a few miles west of Burton upon Trent, where there are a tonne of amenities on-site as well as lots of room for bird flying. Here in Staffordshire, David the falconer and his feathery companions will show you a wonderful in-depth look at what the honourable sport of falconry entails - as well as lots of handling and flying time included in the three-hour falconry experience.

Birds of Prey Experience:

  • Learn about the husbandry of Birds of Prey
  • You will be shown the basics of training and fly some of the birds to your gloved fist
  • Birds flown include Harris Hawks, Kestrels, Ferruginous Hawks and a selection of owls
  • Allow two hours for this experience

  • Minimum age 10 for Owl Encouter and Bird of Prey Experience
  • Under 16s must be accompanied by a participating or spectating adult.

  • Selected weekdays and weekends throughout the year

  • Byrkley Park Garden Centre includes crafts, clothing and jewellery shops as well as the Topiary coffee shop and restaurant.
  • Spectators are welcome for a charge of £10 per person, payable on the day.

It was a fantastic day out. To walk round the fields watching a Harris Hawk doing it's thing and having it land on my hand a few times was amazing. I'd recommend this day to anyone who has even the slightest interest in birds of prey. A very enjoyable and informative day.

A suberb experience, both David and Amy were very welcoming and clearly care very much about the birds. They are very knowledgeable and ensured everyone in the group was involved at all times. We even found David’s dad jokes funny! We would definitely recommend.
