Don't be fooled into thinking the electric car experience days we offer are in slow, sluggish and unattractive eco-friendly vehicles. This beast offers the driver to go from 0-60 in less than five seconds and with a potential top speed of over 155mph, the BMW i8 can hold its own against some of the more established gas guzzlers such as the Lamborghini Gallardo.

An electric car is a vehicle which uses electric motors for propulsion rather than an internal combustion engine. It requires the use of electrical energy, which in most cases is stored in rechargeable batteries whereas a standard engine requires the use of fossil fuels such as petroleum or diesel. The use of electrical energy means electric cars create less CO2 emissions, have a range of around 100 miles on just one charge and are cheaper to run. It is predicted that by 2022 the cost of owning an electric car will be cheaper than owning vehicles which use fossil fuels. Manufacturers such as Tesla with its Model S and BMW with it's BMW i8 are leading the way in the electric car market and are changing the way we perceive electrical vehicles.
