What is a Toyota Driving Experience

Toyota has produced several fantastic vehicles over the years, mixing strength and speed with aggressive design. This power can be felt in cars like the Toyota Supra, which is a common idol among performance enthusiasts.

The Supra MK4 which was made famous by 'The Fast and Furious,' is our vehicle of choice as well. These experiences make a perfect present because the vehicles have been meticulously recreated to appear just like the ones in the movies. Power yourself up to 600BHP! The increasing rarity of these tech muscle icons like the Toyota Supra; Nissan Skyline; Mistsubishi Eclipse - means that we had to find a way to get enthusiasts into these cars if you can’t find one to buy and tune yourself! Obviously we would all love one - remember Toyota have released a new version of the Supra so be sure to check it out!

You owe me a ten-second Car

In only seven words, Vin Diesel changed the world in 2001. You owe me a ten-second car. Why do we see the Toyota Supra burning Lamborghinis and Mustangs on highways all over the world? It wasn't born a motorsports and performance hero, so why do we see it all over Youtube, searched for by any JDM speed collector? The allure of the Japanese domestic market is so strong today, and it has brought us so many icons: Supra MK4, Subaru WRX STi, Nissan Skyline GT-r R34, and Mitsubishi Evo.

Since they remained unlawful to bring into the United States for much of the past few decades - and still appeared in movies and games as the world's best cars - some of these cars were increasingly appealing. Forbidden fruit angle is incredibly hard to resist. The MK4 Supra reigns supreme among import drag vehicles. The Grannas Racing team famously achieved a 7.17 second sprint at 205 mph with 'Orange Man Bad' in December 2019 - and a 6.9 second quarter mile at 194 mph - rendering it the fastest 6 speed stick-shift in the world at the time.

Calm down for a second, because we're getting carried away - Orange Man Bad is an 1800bhp Supra, which is essentially a rocket. However, the Supra MK4 has the unique ability to be customised right down to the atomic level, which is why it is so common with modding enthusiasts.

The story tends to get less interesting if we go back to the MK4's predecessors. It began as part of the 'pony car' craze, which was sparked by Ford's introduction of the Mustang. Mid-size sedans with powerful engines at a reasonable price. Pony cars have had such an impact on what we see and enjoy today - high-performance prototype vehicles built in collaboration with factory-sponsored racing to achieve a commercial advantage - sound familiar?

Toyota understandably wanted in, and in 1970 the Celica - a rear-wheel-drive car - was produced. The Celica XX was made in 1978, but Toyota America did not like the brand, so it was renamed the Celica Supra! Just a sliver of what was to storm around the globe. The MK1 and MK2 Supras were disappointingly mediocre, and the MK3 received some serious engine changes in 1986, but it still gained a ton of weight (500 pounds), so it still struggled for results.

However, in 1987, Toyota added a turbocharger to the engine, which generated 230 horsepower, and the Supra name was formally adopted and renamed the Supra Turbo. The Supra's pace and incorporated spoiler made it instantly appealing - it was definitely a performance car now.

The MK3 became the notorious MK4 in 1992, thanks to the introduction of the 1JZ, a high-performance straight-six engine. By 1993, Toyota had reduced the MK4's weight by 200 pounds and launched the 2JZ engine, which is a more robust variant of the 1JZ. Since it was practically indestructible, the 2JZ has become a global legend. The Supra ditched its boxy form, lost weight, and was equipped with one of the best engines ever made. Because of the 2JZ's rugged design, even car modders with just a little background might switch out a few parts and rev up the boost - in reality, few engines are easier to change and tune than the 2JZ.

As a result, ludicrous figures began to flood in, such as 800BHP.

The MK4 looked amazing, had the best engine, ran smoothly, had incredible braking, would outperform an Aston Martin, and cost half as much. Pow.

The MK4's appearance in Fast and Furious introduced a whole generation to the Japanese performance scene - and served as the foundation for an entire society. What makes a car like this iconic in both of these cases is that manufacturing was halted. As a result, there are only a few MK4s left in the world, and a mint example might potentially cost six figures.

Terms and Conditions

All experiences are subject to availability. The most recent information on dates when an event may be available can be checked by looking at the calendars on the website, or when you have activated and logged in with your voucher. Please note not all spaces are shown online so if you cannot see spaces for your event please call or email for dates. We will do our best to secure your preferred choice of event, venue and date, but to avoid disappointment book as early as possible, especially for peak times such as weekends and the summer months which book up very quickly. Do not purchase an experience for yourself or as a gift that has a choice of venues if you or the person it is for are only able to travel to one of the choices. Once you are booked, you are bound by the terms and conditions of the event host of which a copy can be made available upon request. In most circumstances, a cancellation cannot be made once a date has been booked.

When booking by phone or online you should not make arrangements in connection with an Event until you have received your final booking confirmation stating your date and time (this does not include the automatic purchase email you receive that confirms what you have just ordered). Your final confirmation will usually arrive within 48 hours of making the purchase. For voucher redemption see 'voucher conditions' below. Where specific elements of an Event such as vehicles or equipment are not available due to mechanical breakdown, we reserve the right to make reasonable substitutions on the day. If this is not possible we reserve the right to cancel the experience at short notice.

Voucher holders must make a prior booking and receive confirmation in order that an open voucher can be redeemed. We recommend that when you have chosen your experience you redeem your voucher at least 21 days in advance of taking your selected experience. We do not guarantee availability on all events, even if the date is showing, so if a chosen event is full or you cannot find a suitable date during the validity period of your voucher then the credit can be used towards an alternative event. Do not arrive at a venue expecting to be able to use your voucher without making a prior booking and receiving a booking confirmation. Trackdays.co.uk will not be held liable for any costs incurred in such circumstances.

Unless stated otherwise, vouchers are valid for one person only. Where necessary a top-up payment can be made to increase the value of a voucher to book a higher priced event. Note that during the out of season months the price of experience may change. If the price of the event is lower than the value of the voucher the remaining credit will be held for use until the vouchers expiry date. We recommend booking as early as possible as you must have undertaken your experience before the expiry date printed on the front of your Voucher. All vouchers will be valid for use up to the expiry date displayed, but after this date, vouchers will automatically expire and cannot be reinstated under any circumstances. Trackdays.co.uk staff are not responsible for reminding or informing customers when a voucher is due to expire. A voucher holder may book a date which is outside of the expiration date displayed on the voucher but must extend the expiry of their voucher for an administration fee. This must be processed before the original expiry date. Voucher credit cannot be used for extension fees or to pay for booking protection.
