Thruxton track days is a circuit like many others around the UK was originally an old airfield used in during the war. The airfield opened as a race track in 1950, both the runways and perimeter roads were used for the track. To begin with it was only bikes that used the track until 1952 when the cars joined in on the action. Track action came to a stop in 1965 due to the tarmac being severely warn and plans were soon put into action to redevelop, just three years later in 1968 the track re-opened.The newly developed track had been changed and instead of using the runways the perimeter roads were used and a the new chicane along with three tight corners has made this track one of the greatest. Despite adding the chicane and the three corners Thruxton is still believed to be the fastest race track in the UK.A new 1100 metre outdoor state-of-the-art kart track has recently been opened, and this has been especially designed to provide a testing yet competitive course, built to an international specification. A demanding and highly versatile 4x4 facility, using a fleet of modern Land Rover Discovery's, completes the spectrum of facilities offered by the Thruxton Motor Sports Centre. Loads of mud; many steep and angled inclines, chasms and a see-saw!
