Brits' love for classic cars reaches record numbers - News

  • Record numbers of people flocked to Silverstone for The Classic last weekend
  • Booking stats for classic car driving experiences has reached unprecedented levels
  • TrackDays data shows this means Britain's love affair for classic cars is stronger than ever before

Brits' love of Classic Cars has reached record heights as bookings and events for classic cars surge in popularity, claims leading driving experience provider, TrackDays.co.uk.

Indeed, a staggering 100,000 lapped up the bank holiday sunshine at The Classic at Silverstone Race Circuit as they indulged in a range of classic car attractions – representing a new record for the already hugely popular event.

The highlight of the event was quite possibly the 'Best of British' bill, which saw an eclectic line up of iconic vehicles featured in more than 20 incredible retro races, spanning ten decades of fine motorsport history, including historic cars from Jaguar and Lotus.

Meanwhile, in a world exclusive, thousands of The Classic attendees pointed 'the gold finger' at a stunning showcase of James Bond cars from the latest iteration of the 007 franchise, No Time To Die. This included an Aston Martin DB5 stunt car driven by Daniel Craig in the opening chase sequence set on the historic streets of Materta in Italy.

But Brits' love for all things classic hasn't stopped at just taking in the sights and sounds of the vehicles, as a record number of thrillseekers have decided to take their love for classics one step further by actually getting behind the wheel of a range of beloved vehicles via our range of Classic Car Experiences we sell here on TrackDays.

For example, bookings for our Four British Classic Car Blast with High Speed Passenger Ride package, has increased by a staggering 266%, compared to last year. This package gives petrol heads the opportunity to time travel back to the golden age of British car manufacturing by driving their choice of an Aston Martin Vantage, a Jaguar E-Type, the speedy Ford Escort RS MK1, a classic Mini and the AC Cobra.

Dan Jones, operations manager at TrackDays.co.uk, says: "As the country quite rightly makes the all-important leap to electric vehicles, many may well be worried about the future of our beloved classic cars."

"However, if the sheer numbers at The Classic, as well as our booking data for classic car packages are anything to go by, Britain's love affair for these beloved relics is stronger than ever before."

"Festivals such as The Classic are a great way to keep enthusiasts in touch with iconic car models from yesteryear alive in our memories, and I would like to think our classic car driving experiences are playing a significant role in doing this too."
