How often do you hold bike track days?

Bike track days are normally held during the week with the occasional weekend date. Weekends are usually taken up with racing.

What do i wear?

All riders must provide their own helmet, boots, gloves and motorcycle leathers (a minimum of 2-piece zip-together where the zip is 360 degrees around the waist). Helmets can usually be hired on the day but are subject to availability. All clothing must be free from holes, splits or other apparent damage.

How long will I get on track?

During the summer track day season on a normal bike track day you should receive seven twenty minute sessions out on track. Typically there will be three groups running; novice, intermediate and advance. Each group will receive a session every hour. Please see the 'track day guide' below for more detailed information on different formats of the day. The circuit is open for track use from 9:00am through to 5:00pm with an hours break normally at 1:00pm. Some circuit start and finish times do vary depending on time of year.

How many riders will be on track at any one time?

Again this depends on the circuit. There is a legal maximum number of bikes out on track. Most organisers will not run at this maximum number because it doesn't leave any room for movement i.e. if a rider wanted to move from the novice into the intermediate and the intermediate group is full the rider can't change, so there are normally a few slots left available in each group.

Is fuel available at the circuit?

Most circuits have petrol pumps. Depending on the track day organiser and the circuit they might be opened for one hour at lunch. If not there is a petrol station local to every circuit in the UK, a five minute ride at lunch time and you're ready for the afternoon sessions.

Do I need track day insurance?

You don't need it to attend the track day but it might be worth while considering. A day certificate can be arranged and will cover your bike and sometimes engine and gear box wear. You should check your current insurance policy because it might not be in-valid. A bike track day is not 'testing' or 'competitive motor sport' it is literally riding your bike in a controlled and safe environment on private property. Please see the Insurance page.

How much does a track day cost?

Again it all depends on the circuit you wish visit. A famous circuit like Silverstone GP will cost a lot more than Cadwell club circuit. But in saying that Cadwell is probably more enjoyable to ride than Silverstone!

Can i get tuition?

Basic tuition is usually offered in the Novice group at all events, and extra tuition can usually be paid for on the day (around £10 - £20).
