Have you ever wondered what it was like to be in the cockpit of the US Airways flight 1549 during the 'Miracle on the Hudson'? Well, now you can experience it with the 'Sully' flight simulator! Take on the role of Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger and make the critical decisions that he faced when he landed the aircraft safely on the Hudson River. Will you be able to keep your cool under pressure and make the right call? Or would you have turned back to base? This simulator offers you the opportunity to explore all the possible scenarios. On January 15th 2009, Captain Sullenberger and First Officer Jeff Skiles departed from LaGuardia Airport in New York on a routine flight to Charlotte Douglas Airport in North Carolina. However, just minutes after take-off, the plane hit a flock of Canada Geese at around 2800 feet. This caused both engines to fail, leaving the plane in a dire situation. During the National Transportation Safety Board investigation, the captain's decision-making process was scrutinized, and simulated flights were conducted to determine the best course of action. This simulator experience gives you first hand insight into the difficult decisions that pilots face in emergency situations. After a brief 30-minute introduction to the simulator's controls, which are identical to those of the actual US Airways 1549 Airbus A320, you will be able to test out the three different theories that were examined during the investigation.

  • 30 minute welcome, introduction and briefing

  • In the first 30 minutes you will practice handling the A320, your instructor will show you how to fly the aircraft using autopilot and manually
  • Once comfortable with the controls you will go through the 3 scenarios shown in the film
  • Sessions are run by experienced, professional pilots
  • The Airbus A320 has a motion platform

  • Three observers may accompany you in the simulator for an additional charge of £10 per person payable on the day

  • Minimum age 14, under 18's must be accompanied on site by an adult
  • Minimum height 5ft
  • Not suitable for people with heart problems or epilepsy
