At the kayaking centre, you'll find a range of inflatable solo and tandem kayaks that are stable and easy to manoeuvre. This makes them perfect for beginners who don't need any prior experience to enjoy a day out on the river. But if you're an experienced kayaker, don't worry—there's still plenty to keep you entertained, especially during the rapids session. The husband and wife team that runs the kayaking centre are exceptional guides who will make sure you have a fantastic time. They'll encourage you to get wet (but only if you want to) and even let you float alongside the kayak for a quick dip if you're feeling adventurous. As you paddle along, keep an eye out for the local wildlife, including mallards, moorhens, wagtails, and kingfishers. These wonderful creatures have all been spotted along the kayaking route, adding to the excitement and enjoyment of the experience.

  • Two hour kayaking session in the stunning Peak District
  • Welcome and safety briefing by your BCU kayak guide
  • Tandem or single person kayaks are available
  • Vouchers are valid for your choice of either a kayaking tour or the rapids!

  • All equipment is provided

Tours

  • Kayak for 7 miles of Derwent water between Darley Dales and Matlock Bath
  • Paddle through beautiful Derbyshire countryside on the upper sections before taking on the small grade white water on the Derwent rapids

Rapids

  • This session will introduce you to the basics of white water paddling
  • Paddle to the Matlock Slalom course and take on the rapids!

  • Minimum age 6
  • All under 18's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
  • Maximum weight 22 stone
  • All participants must be able to swim and feel confident in open water
  • A minimum of two vouchers must be purchased for this experience

  • Available on selected weekday and weekend dates throughout the year

  • Spectators are welcome to watch the departure
