Those looking out for a flying experience that's not for the faint of heart will love this Wing Walking Experience. Hosted at Old Warden Aerodrome, near Biggleswade on a 60-acre site that includes a museum, ornate gardens and play areas in the heart of the Bedfordshire countryside, this flying package promises to be 10 minutes of your life that you won't ever forget in a hurry! All of your preparation and safety talks will take place on the day prior to your flight with the technicians, who will be helping you get up 10 ft onto the top wing of a vintage Boeing Stearman aeroplane. And that's where the excitement starts to build, as you're safely and securely strapped into your harness, the plane starts up, and you head up the grass runway and into the skyline, with your skilled pilot at the controls of the biplane doing low-level fly pasts and turns! And given the venue, you can bring along friends and family to see you take on the flying experience of a lifetime!

  • Invite friends and family to watch you in your own 10 minute wing walking display
  • Before the flight you will receive a wing walker training session which includes safety awareness and instruction on the use of the rig and seatbelts
  • Stand on the wing of an authentic Boeing Stearman Biplane travelling at speeds of up to 135 mph
  • Your experience will last approximately 10 minutes from when you start to climb up onto the plane
  • A qualified display pilot will complete the air display
  • Optional recording of your flight will be available, for an additional charge (payable direct)
  • Please allow approximately three hours on site for this experience

It is a condition of CAA approval that you are made fully aware that Wing Walking carries a higher risk than a normal commercial flight (e.g. when you fly on holiday). The operator of these experiences will brief you clearly on the risks that have been identified and how they have been mitigated to make the experiences as safe as possible. You will receive an in depth briefing on the day of your flight and have the opportunity to ask any questions before signing a disclaimer, confirmation of briefing and risk acceptance.

  • You are welcome to bring spectators along with you to watch your wing walking display
  • Entry to The Shuttleworth Collection is payable for spectators on the day
  • Cameras are welcome and there are plenty of great photo and video opportunities throughout
  • There is a cafe onsite

Minimum Age: 18 years

Maximum Weight: 85.00 kg

  • Wing walkers must be under 85kg (13 stone 3lbs)
  • There is no height restrictions for this experience
  • Minimum age is 18, there is no upper age limit but over 65's must have a medical declaration form signed by a doctor
  • You must be able and fit enough to climb up the aircraft to the Rig on the top wing (approximately 10 feet)
  • This experience is approved by the CAA and you are permitted to raise money or be sponsored whilst Wing Walking at this location
  • Please be aware that wing walking carries a higher risk than a 'normal' airline flight and these risks will be clearly explained to you on the day
  • A form is required should you have any medical conditions or be on any medication
