William and Helenka Brown are continuing the family traditions established by Helenka’s family at their vineyard in Eglantine in Nottinghamshire. Their 35 acre site overlooks a lake and they grow traditional Champagne varieties from which they make both white and rose sparkling wines. This tour and tasting is a chance to learn all about growing grapes and the process of turning them into wine. The vines are hand-tended, and the wines are made using the tried and tested methods that have earned expert winemaker Tony Skuriat a number of awards and the acclaim of critics the world over. Guests will have the chance to learn anything they want to know about wine, ask questions and, of course, taste the end result.

This tour is for two people and will last between 1½ to 2 hours. The day starts with a warm welcome and either a cup of tea or coffee or a glass of Nottinghamshire wine. Then it’s time to learn about the Hanwell Estate whilst being guided around, you will learn all about the history of the vineyard and how it was founded. Visitors will get to see how the grapes grow, learn about the different varieties and the impact that choice has on the end product. Then, it’s time to taste the wine! The tutored tasting will see guests identifying the different flavours they can pick up, the experts will be on hand to answer questions, share their thoughts on everything to do with wine and give guests advice on how to choose a wine for any occasion. This experience is ideal for anyone with an interest in wine who would appreciate the chance to learn more about the delicious drinks that are being produced right here in the UK.
