The Maserati GranCabrio (or GranTurismo Convertible, if you’re over the pond in North America) was first unveiled in 2009 at that year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, ahead of commencing it’s next 10 years in production from 2010 onwards.

Now, we grant you that it may just appear to be the GranTurismo with the option to take the roof off. And we grant you that it may look pretty. But make no mistake, the sleek looks on this most sporty of convertible Italian sports cars are incredibly deceptive. The engineering in this bad boy alone is proof of that. It’s powered on a heavyweight 4.7 litre V8 engine, which roars into life offering out an awesome 460 bhp.

Once you’re at the wheel of the GranCabrio, it notches up some mighty speed stats to boot, with super fast acceleration from 0 - 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, and you can expect to achieve top speeds of around 180 mph.

Cool Facts About the Maserati GranCabrio

Maserati also produced several other variants of the GranCabrio model up until it finished production in 2019. The GranCabrio Fendi was designed by the top fashion designer Silvia Venturini Fendi, and was released in 2011 after a debut at that year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

The GranCabrio MC, which was inspired by Maserati’s previous MC Stradale performance car, and which turbo boosted the car’s aerodynamic capabilities, was first showcased at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, with production continuing for the following six years.
